MAY 2011     (National Level Exercise 2011)

Prusik USA, among hundreds of other private sector organizations, will participate virtually in the White House directed National Level Exercise 2011 (NLE 11), May 16-20.  Virtual Engagement in NLE 11 will provide Prusik USA with a flexible and meaningful way to prepare for and help respond to an incident of significant magnitude.  During the week of May 16th, Prusik management will follow the flow of the exercise, which affords them the opportunity to consider the impact on their own environment; receive a daily email that provides scenario and exercise updates; and a short series of questions, and a feedback mechanism.

The questions and feedback are designed to provide an opportunity for input and feedback to FEMA from Prusik USA and other participants in National Level Exercises.  FEMA will utilize a “Whole Community” approach to encourage identification of novel alternative solutions and unique capabilities that could be utilized during the life saving and life sustaining challenges of a catastrophic disaster response.  The input from the virtual engagement will be analyzed for applicability for future response planning.  Participation in NLE 11 will enable Prusik USA to provide better comprehensive solutions, training, and services to clientele.

JANUARY 2011

Prusik USA management team attended the U.S. Department of Homeland Security NTAS Workshop for NIMS Compliant Private Security Agencies.  The DHS has implemented a new advisory system which Prusik USA will be coordinating with clients about security protocol updates and changes.

The National Terrorism Advisory System (NTAS) replaces the color codes of the Homeland Security Advisory System (HSAS).   The new alert system is currently in a 90 day implementation period that began on January 27, 2011 – until the end of the implementation period, the existing HSAS will remain in effect.  NTAS will more effectively communicate information about terrorist threats by providing timely, detailed information to the public, government agencies, first responders, airports and other transportation hubs, and the private sector.

NOVEMBER 2010

Prusik USA management team attended the Oklahoma Office of Homeland Security Safety Officer Course.  This course was designed to provide emergency responders with a robust understanding of the duties, responsibilities, and capabilities of an effective SOFR on an All-Hazards Incident Management Team.  These responsibilities fall into two categories: 1) responding to the incident and the safety needs of the incident, and 2) effectively fulfilling the position responsibilities of a Safety Officer on an All-Hazards IMT.  The exercises, simulations, discussions, and final exam that Prusik officials participated in, along side with police, fire, and emergency management personnel, enables us to process and apply the new knowledge.

Prusik USA

OCTOBER 2010

Prusik USA attended the U.S. Department of Homeland Security's Search and Rescue (ISAR/ SARTECH) course in Oklahoma City, at the OKC Police, and Fire Training Centers.  This course was designed to provide knowledge concerning the general responsibilities skills abilities and the equipment needed by persons who would be participating in a search or rescue mission.  The course is based around rural and wilderness environments but the material is recommended as a base of knowledge for all SAR environments.  ISAR/SARTECH III is the first course in a stepping stone approach to higher level NASAR courses of training for emergency personnel.  It provides a common starting point in training for the new person to SAR and in many cases an excellent refresher course for the more experience SAR worker.  This common starting point provides continuity during SAR operations and future training of all team members.

Prusik Training Center will be publishing a courst list, along with a new training catalog, for students to attend DHS accredited training.
